Tell us about your career path so far…
After graduating with a degree in Electronics Automation Engineering from ESPOL in Ecuador, and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt in Edinburgh, I began my career as an offshore field engineer in the North Sea providing logging while drilling services. I then worked as a drilling engineer and was involved in designing well trajectories, selecting drilling equipment and performance optimization. In June 2019, I had the opportunity to take my career in an exciting new direction and joined ANSA as a Trainee Data Analyst. Since then, I have been providing high quality data analysis and interpretation services to our customers around the world. I am now a Cased Hole Analyst and my focus is on well integrity assessment with multifinger caliper data and cement evaluation services.
What do you do day-to-day at work?
After a data analysis project has been approved, I liaise with the client to agree on the job objectives and find out what are they trying to achieve, what questions they are trying to answer and in what time frame. At the same time, I begin communicating with the field team carrying out the data acquisition at the wellsite to confirm when the operations will take place, for how long, how the data will be made available to me and who my points of contact are in case something needs clarification.
Once the acquired data has been transmitted to us, we review it to make sure it is fit-for-purpose and can achieve the client’s objectives. The data is then processed, and the results and findings compiled into a technical report. Each step of our data analysis service is quality checked and approved by another analyst as part of our stringent QC process.
Additionally, I participate in daily virtual meetings with my team where we agree on projects to be assigned to each analyst, track the progress of ongoing work and review deadlines, and assign training as necessary.
What has been the highlight of your time working at ANSA so far?
On one of my very first Fast Turn Around (FTA) analysis jobs, I received excellent feedback from the client so that felt really rewarding. They were delighted that we delivered their results in a very short time frame, and successfully identified the current condition of items that had been installed downhole during a previous campaign.
What’s the best thing about being part of the ANSA team?
That’s easy! Being able to rely on and learn from each other. I have complete confidence that my work will always be accurately quality checked by my colleagues, and we collaborate closely which helps me continually improve my knowledge and analytical skills.
