Cory Waldrop Lead Cased Hole Analyst READ ANSA

Meet Cory

When did you join ANSA?

I have been part of the ANSA team since the end of 2018, when READ acquired oilfield service company, Proactive Diagnostic Services (PDS) based out of Houston, Texas.

Tell us about your career journey to date…

Having graduated from the University of Houston in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Business Management, I began working for a property management company. However, it wasn’t long before I was keen to try a different career path and came across an opening for a cased hole analyst trainee with PDS which sounded fascinating to me. I started working with them and trained to become a multifinger caliper (MFC) analyst, before taking over as lead caliper analyst in 2013, a position I still hold today with ANSA. During my career I’ve been involved in more than 1600 caliper jobs and have analyzed many millions of feet of data. I’m also ANSA’s lead trainer and have trained four analysts to date and very recently I started training in EMIT data processing and will be adding cement evaluation training to my skillset too. I’m really looking forward to the new challenges this will bring.

What’s a typical day in the office for you?

As lead data analyst for the western hemisphere, my focus is managing the MFC workload that comes in from our customers in that region. I plan and delegate the completion of jobs using all the resources we have available throughout the ANSA team. I often get involved in presenting the report findings to our customers and helping them obtain the answers they need to move forward with their operations. The rest of my day is split between training new analysts, training for my future development with other analysts, making sure all of our data is archived and in good order and participating in daily update meetings with the rest of the team.

Has there been a particular highlight for you during your time at ANSA?

A highlight for me is playing an integral role in the creation and development of our proprietary MFC data preparation, processing and 3D viewer software suite. I enjoy working with our customers and analysts to improve our software based on feedback and customer needs.

What’s the best thing about being part Team ANSA?

Team ANSA is awesome! Being able to regularly talk with others who have the same passion as me is a lot of fun. There is such a vast array of skills and experiences throughout the team, we are very customer focused and able to work with new and existing clients to give them the analysis solutions they need. We also have great relationships with third party vendors for tools and data analysis which allows us to cover a large selection of logs and services for the oilfield globally.
